I got something similar when I went to college before everyone had a desktop, much less a laptop. It could hold 3 1/2 pages at a time. I'd make sure they were perfect, then print 3 of them (can't have a half page) delete those 3 pages of words, and work on. It was a process.

Wow, should have kept my old word processor from high school! It looked a lot like this tool. You could edit one line at a time digitally, then committed it to paper.

I did the pre-order for the Freewrite Alpha too! I know I can use programs to replicate it on my computer, but it's just too tempting!

My AlphaSmart Neo is hands down the best money I’ve spent on writing “equipment”! My highly distract-able brain works so much better when I don’t have to exercise will-power to stay on task
